So, now I have my library itself is stored in a Nextcloud (see the Nextcloud: running in Docker Compose on Debian with Let’s Encrypt SSL post), and I’ll use the Moon+ Reader application on my Android devices as it can synchronize read position via WebDAV.Īlso, you can use Google Drive as a storage backend for Calibre Web, read the docs. The idea is to move away from storing books in Google Books and using its e-book reader on mobile and via a browser but still to be able to access my library from anywhere and to have have a book’s reading position synchronization ability, as it is in the Google Books mobile and browser readers. I'm sure this post will be of use to others in the future.I’m using Calibre for my e-books library management for many years, but until today always used its desktop version.Ī couple of days ago I found the Calibre Web project – the same library, working with the same database, but accessible via a browser. Thank you to those who will take some time to explain this wonderful world to a newcomer. This leads to the last point : what's the best way to convert my epub into a kepub which is (from what I've read) the best format for Kobo readers? I red about extension in calibre, or to other third party software. epub without the cover and other metadata? In this case, how do you transfert books from the calibre library to ur Kobo? I need to download the book and move it to the Kobo with a cable like before? There must be a simpler way, especially since when I download a book from Calibre-Web, it only gives me the. Maybe it's absolutly not the goal of this feature and I miss-understood.

But I haven't found anything that clearly explains how this feature works or how to implement it. In my mind, it would be a feature allowing me to "send" books directly to my kobo like the "send to kindle" well-know feature. Now, there's few more things that i would like to be able to do.įor instance, I keep hearing about a feature called "Kobo sync" packaged with Calibre-Web.

That's what I did, and it seems to work pretty much well with a reverse-proxy.

So, from what i've understood now, i should install Calibre "server" on my NAS (through docker) to create and manage my library locally and install another package like Calibre-Web that will be the "front-end" of my library. My main idea is to build my own books library on my NAS and I would like that library to be accessible from the internet so that my familly or friends could access it. I've been looking around for many hours now and didn't found anything on reddit or on whatever other website. I'm new to the calibre world and more widely to the e-reader world.
